One of the new models celebrates the 70th anniversary of the Crown nameplate, pairing a two-tone exterior with commemorative touches throughout. The other takes a darker, more modern approach with a Matte Metal shade already seen on other Crown variants like the Crossover and Sport.

The four-door sedan remains arguably the most stylish of the current Crown family. With the nameplate in continuous production since 1955, Toyota is marking its 70-year milestone by introducing the Crown Special Edition Z “The 70th,” available exclusively in Japan.
This anniversary edition features a two-tone paint scheme, with Precious Metal on the upper half and either Precious White Pearl or Precious Black Pearl below. The combination adds an upscale flair, giving off Maybach vibes without the six-figure price tag.
The sedan rides on 20-inch alloy wheels finished in matte black. The gray side decals with a discreet 70th marking are optional. An anniversary logo with the Crown emblem is laser-etched on the dashboard and engraved on the jewel-like gear selector. It can be found on the puddle lights, the recycled leather pouch for the manual, and the key fob. The Black Lustre interior with matching wood grain inserts keeps it classy and understated.
Alongside the 70th edition, Toyota is also offering the Crown Special Edition Z Limited Matte Metal. This version trades anniversary branding for a clean, industrial look. The exterior wears a dark matte gray with a special surface finish that Toyota says is easy to maintain. Like its sibling, it rides on 20-inch matte black wheels and features the same Black Lustre interior, although it skips the jewel-like gear knob found in the anniversary model. Available dealer accessories include headrest pillows and a panoramic sunroof.

Both special editions can be equipped with a choice of two powertrains. One is a 2.5-liter self-charging hybrid, and the other is a hydrogen-powered FCEV borrowed from the Mirai.

Pricing for the Crown Special Edition Z “The 70th” starts at ¥7,550,000 (around $52,700) for the hybrid version, and ¥8,550,000 ($59,700) for the FCEV. The Matte Metal edition is slightly more expensive, beginning at ¥8,100,000 ($56,500) and climbing to ¥9,100,000 ($63,500) with the hydrogen setup.
