We all get a little carried away in the heat of the moment, but one person in Michigan decided to crank the dial all the way to reckless. According to police, someone fired a gun multiple times into the air from inside a moving Lamborghini Huracan.

Not in a field. Not on private property. This happened on a busy road in Dearborn, Michigan, surrounded by other drivers just trying to get through their Sunday. As you might expect, that’s not going over too well with the authorities.
According to the Dearborn Police Department, bystanders called about the situation Sunday evening. The video below shows the incident. They reported the firearm discharge, and officers tracked the purple Lamborghini Huracan to a banquet hall in Dearborn Heights. From there, they seized the car, which turned out to be a rental. Then, they went to find the person responsible for firing the gun.

Evidently, an anonymous tip led them to the perpetrator, who ended up arrested. He’s now facing charges of recklessly discharging a firearm. Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin took to Instagram to admonish the public.
“We want the community to know that we are not going to tolerate reckless or dangerous behavior in the name of celebration,” Shahin said. “Firing a weapon from a moving vehicle, especially in a crowded area, is not only illegal, it puts lives at risk. Dearborn is a city that welcomes joyful gatherings, but when celebrations turn into public safety threats, we will act swiftly and decisively. Let this be a clear message: If you break the law in our city, we will find you, and we will hold you accountable.”
A Common, Risky Trend
Why be so heavy-handed when nobody ended up hurt? Shahin tells Fox 2 Detroit that this is somewhat common. “There’s this habit of people renting vehicles and celebrating on their way to weddings. They stop and block traffic and fire a gun out of the window in celebration.”
So, yes, this happens more often than you might think. But maybe now that this particular stunt has gone viral, it’ll discourage others from treating the freeway like a personal parade route.
