Maserati’s GranTurismo and GranCabrio are packing their bags and heading to Modena, leaving the Mirafiori plant in Turin behind. The move, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025, coincides with Fiat’s shift to producing the 500 Hybrid in Turin, an effort that’s set to bring in a far more meaningful 100,000 units per year.

Meanwhile, Maserati’s sales have taken a nosedive, dropping from 26,600 units in 2023 to just 11,300 in 2024, prompting the cancellation of a few projects that were supposed to add some flair to the brand’s lineup.

While the future of Maserati doesn’t look that bright, the company suggests that moving production of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio to its HQ reaffirms its “strong commitment” to the Motor Valley area and its people.
The Viale Ciro Menotti plant in Modena is where the MC20 Coupe, Cielo, and GT2 Stradale are built, as well as the V6 Nettuno powertrain that powers the entire Maserati lineup. The Trident brand calls it “one of the most advanced facilities in the country”, making Modena the “luxury hub” of the Stellantis Group.
As reported by Quattroruote, most of the workers currently employed on the Maserati line in Mirafiori will work in the production of the Fiat 500 Hybrid, while some of them will be “reassigned to other existing activities” in the plant, such as the production of the eDCT gearbox.
Still, the bodywork and painting”of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio will still come from the Turin factory, which is around 300 km (186 miles) away from Modena.

The Maserati GranTurismo was unveiled in 2022, with the GranCabrio following in 2024. Both models ride on an upgraded version of the Alfa Romeo Giorgio architecture, offering the option between V6 and fully electric (Folgore) powertrains.
