• The Range Rover P530 has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft.
  • This behemoth of a luxury SUV had an original sticker price of $191,520.
  • The SUV has plenty of options, including an $8,540 Flux Silver paint finish.

Some car brands are notorious for their steep depreciation, and German and British luxury models are top contenders. Take, for instance, the 2024 Range Rover P530 Autobiography LWB, which lost a staggering $56,520 in value after just one year and 4,900 miles (7,885 km).

In the world of high-end luxury SUVs, Range Rovers have earned a loyal following. Sure, JLR’s models haven’t exactly been renowned for reliability over the years, but when it comes to road presence, few SUVs command attention quite like a Range Rover. This Autobiography LWB is one of the finest examples in the lineup, originally priced at $170,400. However, with over $15,000 in added options, the total sticker price climbs to a hefty $191,520.

The priciest option is the Flux Silver paint finish, at $8,540. It also includes $5,600 deployable side steps, 23-inch diamond turned wheels, the $1,000 shade exterior pack, a $350 heated windshield, and $1,150 Ebony Near-Aniline leather seats. As it’s been driven so little and was only purchased in March 2024, it’s only natural that it looks brand new.

While the owner likely had a good time behind the wheel of this extended-wheelbase SUV, the $56,520 depreciation is sure to leave a sour taste. To put it in perspective, that’s enough to buy a brand-new base Land Rover Defender 90, which starts at $56,900.

Being a P530 trim, this Range Rover rocks a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. It sends all that power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

While the new owner may think they’ve walked away with a bit of a bargain after getting it at the Cars&Bids online auction, this SUV’s value is not even close to bottoming out. Decade-old Range Rover Autobiography SUVs are currently trading hands in the $20,000-$30,000 region, and we see no reason why this one also won’t be valued at the same ballpark in the first half of the next decade.

If this sounds like a very tempting option, though, consider that the running costs reflect the vehicle’s original price – which means they’re quite pricey. If you think you can afford them, you may proceed provided you have the funds; otherwise, a Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V, to name but two mainstream SUVs that won’t cost you a kidney (or both) in case something goes wrong, may be the way to go.
